Gutter guards are priced per linear foot of gutter, not per house. That is the single most useful thing to understand before anyone quotes you, because it means the number depends on your roofline, not on how big your home feels.

A simple single story ranch with 120 feet of gutter is a completely different job from a two story colonial with dormers, valleys and a detached garage. Same square footage, very different price.

What drives the price

• Linear feet of gutter. Measure the runs, not the floor area. Most homes land between 120 and 250 feet.
• The type of guard. Foam and brush inserts are cheapest. Micro mesh sits in the middle and is what most professional installers use. Reverse curve systems cost the most.
• Height and access. Two stories, steep pitch, or anything needing scaffolding adds labor.
• Condition of the gutters. If the existing gutters sag, leak or pull away from the fascia, that gets fixed first. A guard on a broken gutter is money wasted.

The types, honestly

Foam and brush inserts. The cheapest option and you can install them yourself. They work at first, then they hold moisture and organic matter and become part of the clog. Fine as a short term patch, not a solution.
